O fenômeno da vulnerabilidade participa do cotidiano pessoal e profissional dos enfermeiros. Esta pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar as representações sociais elaboradas por enfermeiros que cuidam de pacientes com o Vírus da Imunodeficiência Humana acerca de sua própria vulnerabilidade. Trata-se de estudo qualitativo, descritivo e exploratório orientado pelo referencial teórico-metodológico da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Participaram, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, 30 enfermeiros de um hospital público municipal do Rio de Janeiro. Na análise de conteúdo temática, operacionalizada pelo software QSR NVivo 9, tanto a vulnerabilidade quanto o empoderamento emergiram e, no todo, foram obtidas sete categorias. Conclui-se que a reconstrução sociocognitiva da vulnerabilidade e do empoderamento é diversificada e mutável em suas bases e produtos, e, em movimentos de balanço e contrabalanço, corporifica a díade vulnerabilidade-empoderamento.
ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of vulnerability permeates nurses’ personal and professional daily life. This study analyzed social representations about their own vulnerability among nurses caring for patients with Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Social Representations Theory provided the methodological framework guiding this qualitative, descriptive, exploratory study. Thirty nurses from a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, participated through semi-structured interviews. Thematic content analysis using QSR NVivo 9 software yielded, seven categories in all, with both vulnerability and empowerment emerging. It is concluded that, in its bases and outcomes, socio-cognitive reconstruction of vulnerability and empowerment is varied and changeable and, in movements that upset and restore balance, it embodies the vulnerability-empowerment dyad.
RESUMEN
El fenómeno de la vulnerabilidad participa del cotidiano personal y profesional de los enfermeros. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las representaciones sociales elaboradas por enfermeros que cuidan de pacientes con el virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana acerca de su propia vulnerabilidad. Esto es un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo y exploratorio orientado por el referencial metodológico de la Teoría de las Representaciones Sociales. Participaron, por medio de entrevista semiestructurada, 30 enfermeros de un hospital público municipal de Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. En el análisis de contenido temático operado a través del software QSR NVivo 9, tanto la vulnerabilidad como el empoderamiento emergieron y, en conjunto, fueron obtenidas siete categorías. Se concluye que la reconstrucción sociocognitiva de la vulnerabilidad y del empoderamiento es variada y mudable con relación a sus bases y productos, y, en movimientos de balanceo y contrabalanceo, ella corporeiza la díada vulnerabilidad/empoderamiento.
