Availability of nutrition facts in restaurants in the city of São Paulo

A ausência de informação nutricional referente aos alimentos comercializados em restaurantes pode comprometer as escolhas dos indivíduos. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever a disponibilidade de informação nutricional em restaurantes da cidade de São Paulo, segundo tipo de estabelecimento e nível socioeconômico do distrito administrativo em que o estabelecimento se localiza. Trata-se de estudo descritivo, com coleta de dados em restaurantes (full service, fast food, bares e similares) de 13 distritos administrativos de São Paulo, selecionados segundo o Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano do Município e a densidade de estabelecimentos de comercialização de alimentos. Em cada distrito foram selecionados quatro setores censitários, totalizando 52 avaliados. Foram avaliados 472 estabelecimentos, sendo que a maior parte eram bares e padarias (45,5%), seguidos por lanchonetes fast food de pequenas e grandes redes (30,3%) e restaurantes self service, quilo e a la carte (24,2%). As informações nutricionais foram encontradas em cinco (1,1%) estabelecimentos, todos pertencentes a grandes redes de fast food e localizados em distritos de maior nível socioeconômico. Há escassez de informação nutricional em estabelecimentos que comercializam alimentos para consumo imediato, sendo necessária regulamentação, a fim de garantir o acesso a tal informação e favorecer escolhas saudáveis.
