Abstract

This work is the result of a completed master's dissertation and aims to discuss the affective and poetic possibilities of research with babies, both in terms of experiences in teacher-researcher interactions with babies in the field, and in the process of writing the research. The methodological path was lived in the cartography of sensitive encounters between adults and babies in the context of a daycare center in Rio de Janeiro, with a view to mapping the feelings of vitality and affective syntonies experienced in everyday contacts. In the research, we invented the expression “a cartography in two stages” to address the specificity of the methodological arrangement created. The first stage of the research took place in the aforementioned daycare center, in a class with babies, exposing the researcher-teacher journey on the frontier. The second stage of the research took place the following year and was marked by the researcher's leap into the encounter with the records and the creation of writings. In this sense, in the dialogue with Ingold, we proposed the research as an attentional journey. The dialogue with Daniel Stern in the field of Psychology and with Gilles Deleuze in the field of Philosophy configure the central theoretical framework, contributing to the discussion of the intensities of shared paths, in addition to the possibilities of becoming-child/baby in research. The writing exercise exposes the researcher's inventive movement, in the effort to connect with the babies, in their multisensory modes of expression, concretizing, in the text, the extended time of the encounters and the sharing of a feeling with the babies.
