The present narrative aims to describe the initial experiences as a teacher in basic education at a public school in Minas Gerais, highlighting the challenges faced during the career initiation in the year 2023. By anchoring in the literature and using the scientific narrative approach as proposed by Daltro and Faria (2019), this work proposes to discuss and reflect on teacher education, the dichotomy between theory and practice in the curriculum proposals under the full-time schooling regime, and the influence of social and economic aspects in the school environment, conveyed through narrative memory and from the enunciative locus of a teacher at the beginning of their career. This experience also aims to analyze, reflect upon, and weave together the experiences that contribute to a discussion on teacher education and the complexity of the full-time high school curriculum, teacher well-being, and the social and economic aspects of students as factors to be considered in daily pedagogical practice.
