THE USE OF PAPERCRAFTS AS A PEDAGOGICAL RESOURCE FOR PROCESS OF TEACHING-LEARNING SCIENCE IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The absence of practical activities in the teaching of Natural Sciences has been a concern highlighted by researchers for decades. When applied, such actions have historically been restricted to experimentation, leaving aside other alternatives which, through the development of different skills, contribute to the student’s learning and training processes. Therefore, the present work proposes to report a pedagogical intervention, carried out in an elementary school class, in which a practical activity was developed regarding the theme “living beings” through the construction of papercraft models, seeking to reflect on its strengths and weaknesses as a pedagogical resource. As a result, it was observed that the construction of the models boosted the student’s involvement during the class, contributing to the development of self-esteem, creativity and collectivity. As a pedagogical resource, papercraft proved to be a viable alternative, once it is low cost and applicable, through adaptations, to different contexts and pedagogical demands.
