Editorial

Here we present the new edition of Revista da Faculdade de Direito UERJ with 10 unpublished articles from different fields of Law. In this number, we follow the bilingual publication project – in Portuguese and English – enabled by the Research Support Foundation of Rio de Janeiro’s State – FAPERJ, which posted an announcement to aid scientific journals in the beginning of 2012. This project includes the last edition (n. 22) and the present one (n. 23). We hope to accomplish new resources in order to maintain the bilingual editorial pattern in the next editions.

The 23th number of this Journal brings articles regarding themes such as: legal positivism, empirical research about housing and favelas in Rio de Janeiro, theory of the Law, environmental law, criminal law, reinsurance system, moral damage and tax law.

The translation of the articles was made by graduate, post graduate and former students from UERJ and other universities in Rio de Janeiro. The translators have been through a selection procedure which included an evaluation. Ten translators were approved and now form our  translation team. We thank Priscila Cabral, Marcus de Almeira Lima, Isadora Falcão, Julio Carneiro, Ana Luiza Calil, Larissa Lima Barcellos de Araujo, Adriana Taranto, Pedro Meirelles Reis Sotero de Menezes, Juliana Luiz and Ana Beatriz. All translations were revised and approved by the authors and are currently in this edition.

In this edition, I also say goodbye to by editor-chief post. It has been more than two years and a half since I received this invitation from prof. Adilson Rodrigues, not much time ago, but it was an intense period. The Journal was updated, “virtualized”, indexed and fitted into the Qualis pattern. The most recent accomplishment was turning it into a bilingual journal. I would not have reached any of this if it wasn’t for the initial and essential help from the Master’s degree students. However, doubtlessly, my major thanks go to Tarcila and Carol. Without them the Journal would not be what it is now. I wish good luck and lots of success for my successor, prof. Antônio Augusto Madureira, who was once the director of the Law School and will know how to conduct this journal better than I did.

Finally, I hope RFD keeps contributing for the spreading of academic law debates. Good reading!
