Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The Magazine structure is opened and composed primarily of articles resulting from monographs, dissertations, theses and research, as well as essays, reviews, interviews, lecture summaries, adapted reports from scientific research and significant records. Through the received contributions, the suggestions sent or the analysis of matters whatsoever relevant in professional and social situation, the Editorial Staff can organize files that emphasize certain thematic. Article from an end-of-course monograph should be submitted in co-authoring with the responsible teacher / advisor;

  • Anonymity will be ensured for the authors in the evaluation process and for the reviewers under their evaluation (double blind system) under all circumstances. The approved articles will be submitted to the Editorial Staff of the journal for the final composition of the editions of each volume / year, in view of the criteria and norms of the journal’s indexing and editorial policy. The approved and unpublished articles may remain for a maximum period of 18 (eighteen) months in the bank of articles of the journal for later publication, except in cases of refusal formalized by the author (s);

  • The publication of more than one article, with the participation of the same author, must obey the minimum interval of 1 (one) year, except when invited by the Editorial Team to elaborate specific editorial contente;

  • Only one (1) article per volume / year is allowed;

  • Collective autorship articles shall not exceed the maximum limit of 4 (four) authors. And, on the Registration form, it will be necessary to indicate there is a first author/main author and the entry hierarchy of the names. If the authors do not make the reference indicated, the magazine will use the alphabetical order, with entry by the authors surnames;

  • Articles should be sent to the Editorial Staff, via email and/or by the (UERJ) Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro publishing site, http://www.e-publicacoes.uerj.br/index.php/revistaem pauta>, being not necessary to send a print copy by mail. Articles must necessarily contain between 10  to 15 pages, with 25 lines of 70 ringtones each, Times Roman font, size 12, interlinear space of 1.5  cm, with 2.5 cm margins all in A4-size paper and paragraph 1.25 cm from the left margin. These dimensions include complete references and possible illustrations. The reviews must contain precisely from 3 (three) to 5 (five) pages;

  • The articles shall not have the author(s) identification, but must be accompanied by another file, or sheet separated from the body of the article, designated (a) to cover with the full name of the author (s), their training, academic degree, with the institution that conferred the title, main position occupied currently, full name and mailing address, which may be personal or of the institution to which they are related, phone and email; these data will be published when the article and / or reviews are accepted, given the indication crawlers;

  • The first page of the text should contain :

    –      Only the title of the article - without name (s) of author (s) - with a maximum of 12 words.

    –      The abstract should have up to 150 words maximum and be written in font size 10 and single spacing

    –      Must have between 3 to 5 keywords, chosen among those that can accurately sort the work in bibliographical research, for indexing.

    –      The English title, abstract and keywords, ie the version in English of the title, abstract and keywords.

  • Contributions in Portuguese, Spanish or English will be accepted. As for the language of the Titles, abstracts and keywords, the guidance is as follows:

    –      When the article is in Portuguese or English, the title, the abstract and keywords should only be in Portuguese and English.

    –      When the article is in Spanish, the title, the abstract and keywords must be in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

  • Footnotes should be avoided; when indispensable, should not exceed four lines. The illustrations (figures, tables, photos and pictures) should be avoided, but when indispensable to the content, they must be indicated and attached in the body of the text, including title and reference source. They should also be sent in separate files, complying with the following requirements: Excel tables, graphs, formatted, tables and other illustrations must be in high resolution (with at least 300 dpi). In all situations, the quality and pertinence of the submitted material will be evaluated, being the responsibility of Editorial Staff the decision on its inclusion or not, communicating the fact to the author (s);

  • To send the work you must:

    1. Declaration of Responsibility (signed);
    2. Transfer of Copyrights (signed);
    3.  Registration form completed (signed);
    4. File with work.

    The documents mentioned above must be signed, scanned and sent to the magazine’s electronic mail (revistaempauta.uerj@gmail.com) or attached as a supplementary document, when submitted via the SEER platform.

    When mailing the work to the magazine “Em Pauta: Social theory and contemporary reality”, the authors attest: their participation in the design, preparation and development (full or partial) of the article, assuming its contents publicly and acknowledging its authorship and originality. The authors also attest not submit simultaneous to other journal(s), whether in electronic or printed format, making a commitment not to send the material to another form of publication while continue the submission process and review of the Revista em Pauta. The authors also acknowledge the necessary mention of funding agencies, funding and/or agreements with several organizations related and/or interested by the publication, accepting full responsibility for credits or acknowledgements due, when applicable. The Revista em Pauta reserves the right of exclusivity in the publication of articles and alike, being the Editorial Staff responsible for evaluate the exceptions;

  • Once submitted the article in coautoria, will not be allowed the rectification of authorship of the same;

  • All non-commissioned collaborations are forwarded to the Editorial team – which shall submit to the evaluation process, in double-blind system, based on the opinion of two members of the Scientific Editorial Board; also can be invited ad hoc reviewers, who recommend the publication, maintaining secrecy about the opinion. When the non-coincidence of the evaluations, the article will be sent to a third reviewer. The Editorial Staff of the magazine, in possession of the opinions of the scientific Editorial Board and/or ad hoc reviewers, reserves the right to suggest to the authors modifications in order to adapt articles and similar to the magazine standards;

  • The originals sent to the Em Pauta Magazine will be considered definitive; the Editorial Staff undertakes to make the material unusable, and is also responsible for always sending a positive or negative response, by e-mail and / or directly to the author (s);

  • When approving articles and similar, a document authorizing the publication will be sent by email to the authors who will forward it, along with other applicable procedures for review and definitive version of the material to be published, duly completed, signed and scanned;
  • Replies and comments on the articles published are of interest to the magazine and, if accepted for publication will be sent to authors for knowledge prior to publications and the right to rejoinders, preferably on the same number;

  • 10)      Sending the material to the Revista Em Pauta by mail, authors transfer all copyrights to the Revista Em Pauta, being prohibited its reproduction, partial or in full, and in any means of divulgation, whether in electronic or printed format without prior request. For possible disclosure after the publication in the magazine, when authorized, the authors undertake to set forth the proper credit to the first publication in the “Revista Em Pauta: Social Theory and Contemporary Reality”. The copyright of published articles belongs to their authors and the copyright of each issue belongs to the Faculdade de Serviço Social from UERJ, not involving any payments to authors;

  • 10)      Will not be published articles that violate the professional ethics, emitting prejudices of any nature or incompatible views with the Editorial Policy of the magazine. The articles should also observe the national resolutions of the National Commission for Research Ethics / National Health Council, namely Resolution 510 of April 7, 2016, which regulates research in Human and Social Sciences.

    Articles submitted with content derived from research normalized by Resolution 510 of April 2016 should explain methodologically, in the body of the text, compliance with said normative parameters;

  • Articles and alike shall conform to the standards of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT), adopted here. The material will be delivered to the magazine, reviewed in accordance with the grammatical rules in force;

  • 10)      From the issue 30, v. 10 has been published data with ad hoc Reviewers who have contributed to the magazine over the past year, considering the month of issuance of opinion and taking the month of October 2011 as the initial cut.

- The PAPER must not have any elements that may identify the author.

 

- The COVER PAGE should be sent in a different file and it must include identification information of ALL authors (name, professional credits, ORCID, e-mail address, and mailing address).

CITATIONS AND REFERENCES

 

(According to ABNTs NBR 6023, NBR 6022 and NBR 10520- here adopted). 

The citations and references contained in the texts delivered by the authors to the journal for publication are the responsibility of their respective authors.

 

Quoting:

- The citations should follow the author-date guidance;

- Quote from up to 3 lines: within the body of the text, enclosed in quotation marks, font equal to that of the source text.

- Quote from more than 3 lines: outside the body of the text, font 10, indented to the line of the paragraph, 4 cm from the left margin, no quotes, or any other featured, simple, interlinear spacing, right margin equal to that of the text. The quotation marks inside a quotation are simple.

- Author name

a) In the body of the text: normal for spelling proper names; year and page in parentheses. Example: "the civil society [...]."  (COSTA, 2002, p. 39),

b) At the end of the text and in the two cases above: all the elements of the reference in parentheses and in uppercase. Example: "civil society [...]" (COSTA, 2002, p. 39).

- When it comes to indirect quote (when do not use the same words of the quoted text - paraphrase), refer the surname of the author and the year, no need of quotes and page, as in the previous examples.

 

References

The bibliographic references and other sources are mandatory and should be made of the bibliography cited in article effectively or similar.
