Resumo: Pretende-se nesse artigo, analisar como o animal não humano se apresenta como uma aberturapara a compreensão do fenômeno da vida e, mais especificamente, como ele representa a primeira interrogação capaz de conduzir o ser humano à compreensão de sua própria animalidade. Para tanto, analisaremos as teses de Hans Jonas, com o fim de verificar como esse autor, por recolocar o humano no âmbito da vida em geral, acaba por favorecer uma compreensão completa do fenômeno vital, algo que, em última instância, capacita o homem a formular a pergunta sobre o animal não humano, já que com ele partilha a condição a partir da qual a pergunta pode ser formulada: ambos estão vivos.

Abstract: This article aims to analyze how the nonhuman animal presents itself as an openingfor the understanding of the phenomenon of life and, more specifically, how it represents the first interrogation capable of leading the human being to an understanding of his own animality.In order to do so, we will analyze the theses of Hans Jonas, in order to verify how this author, by putting the human in the sphere of life in general, ends up favoring a complete understanding of the vital phenomenon, which ultimately enables manto formulate the question about the nonhuman animal, since with it shares the condition from which the question can be formulated: both are alive.
