Abstract

This article reports on the experience of building psychosocial care strategies at the Integrated Adolescent Care Resource Center, which is part of the Rio de Janeiro state socio-educational sector in the municipality of Volta Redonda. The thread that drives these reflections is the field journal narratives, written during the Psychology internship in the Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Infantojuvenil (CAPSi) in contact with socio-educational services. The article looks at the impasses that still exist in the field of working with young people in conflict with the law and serving socio-educational measures. The aim is to present the experience in the field and discuss the practice of Mental Health in the context of socio-educational public policies from a critical perspective. The issues faced along the way reveal to us how the intersectoral work carried out by Child and Adolescent Mental Health has been articulated with the Justice and Education sectors. We conclude that there are currently huge institutional challenges in drawing up and implementing national policies aimed at child and adolescent mental health.
