O impacto da cirurgia plástica na auto-estima

A beleza e suas implicações na representação de si têm grande efeito no comportamento e nas relações dos indivíduos. Neste contexto, a cirurgia plástica estética apresenta-se, para alguns, como a solução para os “defeitos da genética”. Neste estudo, foram realizadas entrevistas com seis mulheres que se submeteram a cirurgia plástica estética há menos de dois anos, a fim de investigar o seu efeito na auto-estima. Para analisar os dados, foi utilizado o método de análise de conteúdo, sendo que o levantamento de inferências e interpretações foi feito sob o referencial psicanalítico. De modo geral, os resultados indicam que a cirurgia plástica aumentou a auto-estima e a harmonia interna das entrevistadas, sanou a sua deformidade física (real ou imaginária) e alterou positivamente suas relações interpessoais e sexuais.Published
