Abstract

It is known that historically ideas related to (or built upon) Antiquity have been used to validate different types of discourses. Scholars such as DuBois (2001), Zuckerberg (2018), and Morales (2021) are concerned about this issue. They discuss how themes addressed in written productions from Graeco-Roman Antiquity have been influential in Western thinking, based on varied interpretations over time and also depending on the political-ideological spectrum of those proposing them. Therefore, given the need to carry out in our country research similar to that of the aforementioned scholars, this article aims to think about the interpretation of Antiquity promoted by members of Red Pill communities that arises from the following question: how the discussion of different themes related to gender issues, especially in the environment of anti-feminist profiles, presents ideas related to Antiquity? To address this issue, we observe the presence of these ideas in videos from a YouTube channel. We are interested in the fact that those profiles base their conceptions, above all, on alleged images of Antiquity to reinforce discourses and ideas that define a specific ideal of women: those who are the weaker sex and submissive to men.
