Abstract

This article seeks to highlight the relationship between politics, the activism of leftist women, and authoritarian political regimes, focusing on the written militant productions originating in Pernambuco during the civil-military regime (1964–1979). The aim is to understand one of the most significant forms of women's political activism, namely: the dissemination of the revolutionary movement against the dictatorial regime. Based on documentary research conducted at the Public Archives of the State of Pernambuco, as well as testimonies found in documentaries and interviews published in the post-dictatorship period, it was possible to identify 33 women involved in the production of educational and/or political texts that circulated during the specified timeframe. The materials published in clandestine newspapers, pamphlets, manifestos, and literary works served as important instruments for denouncing human rights violations and the repressive practices of the State, thus revealing one of the many ways in which women shaped history.
