DOI: 10.12957/periferia.2012.8444A cultura hip-hop como estilo integrado no fluxo cultural global vem a problematizar a acomodação dos olhares em relação às contradições sociais, além de mostrar outras formas de pensar o lugar de saberes, de conhecimentos e de valores como solidariedade e coletividade.O objetivo desse artigo está em traçar um panorama do hip-hop no Brasil, tendo como berço dessa cultura São Paulo, e refletir sobre o papel das posses, ações juvenis periféricas do hip-hop,como possíveis mediações para novas práticas políticas. Nesse trabalho discutimos a contribuição teórica-política dos Estudos Culturais e seu enfoque no processo de significação das práticas culturais, presentes nos tecidos urbanos da contemporaneidade, que viabiliza a constituição de novas narrativas.
