O trabalho aborda as ações da Igreja Católica em um bairro do município de Belford Roxo, Baixada Fluminense, no enfrentamento da violência na região, historicamente ligada à presença de grupos de extermínio e suas práticas de terror. Através de pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e entrevistas, o trabalho pretende analisar os movimentos que emergiram no interior da Paróquia São Simão – centrados na atuação do bispo Dom Adriano Hypólito e do padre Luigi Bruno – fomentando ações de denúncia e resistência a esse problema social, entre as décadas de 1970 e 1990. Em um contexto de aguda precarização dos serviços públicos, comum a muitas periferias urbanas latino-americanas, a Paróquia São Simão, com seu histórico na defesa dos direitos humanos, atua como uma trincheira no cotidiano do bairro, desenvolvendo um processo político-pedagógico potente junto a uma população frequentemente silenciada pelo medo.Downloads
