Esta coletânea de entrevistas é um guia de leitura dos escritos de um dos mais importantes pensadores em atividade no Brasil. O volume contém 10 entrevistas realizadas entre 1999 e 2007, sendo uma inédita, além da cronologia biobibliográfica do entrevistado. Na Advertência, o entrevistado-autor comunica aos leitores que o que segue são “entre(re)vistas”, versões modificadas de conversas anteriores que já resultavam de edições e revisões de encontros transcritos. O tom, entre o coloquial e o rigor expositivo e demonstrativo, é temperado com humor e insights surpreendentes. Na maior parte delas, o leitor é apresentado às teses que situam o autor entre os protagonistas de uma refiguração global da antropologia – através da reavaliação das polaridades conceituais condicionantes da disciplina: as oposições entre Primitivo e Civilizado, Indivíduo e Sociedade, e Natureza e Cultura, com um reexame crítico desses “divisores”.
