Dialogue between School, Territory and Heritage
Educational Experiences in Itaipu

This study highlights the relevance of the dialogue between school and territory, proposing ways to connect the lived experiences of teachers and students through the perspectives of Educational Territories and Heritage Education. Understanding school beyond its walls means recognizing the territory as a space of life and learning, where everyday experiences become shared knowledge. Based on a qualitative, action-research approach, the study involved teachers from Niterói’s municipal network in implementing the educational product Itaipu and its Territories: an Educational Itinerary — a field class proposal designed to value the natural and cultural heritage of the Itaipu neighborhood. The results show that the pedagogical use of territory broadens the meaning of schooling, strengthens community bonds, and fosters a critical and reflective education grounded in lived realities.
