The task of feminisms in naming violence against women

Abstract

In the 2010s, digital feminist campaigns denouncing a series of cases of abuse, sexual harassment, and the crime of femicide. On social media, thousands of women around the planet began sharing accounts of violence as well as behaviors that disrespected and harmed them in their daily lives. The purpose of this article is to analyze how these discourses, which arise in the digital realm, constitute narratives of experiences that possess a historical character and reveal a deep social problem of a global scale. Drawing on the contributions of historian Reinhart Koselleck and authors such as Rebecca Solnit, Nelly Richard, and Laura Bates, the text outlines the challenges for History within this context and examines how the digital territory that promoted advances in women's rights has also become the environment that propagates the most misogyny today.
