[EM EDIÇÃO] Elmoterapia no suporte ventilatório não invasivo de pacientes adultos durante a covid-19: revisão de escopo

Objetivo: mapear o uso da elmoterapia como modalidade de suporte ventilatório de pacientes adultos no cenário hospitalar durante a pandemia da covid-19. Método: revisão de escopo conduzida conforme Joanna Briggs Institute e diretrizes PRISMA-ScR. A questão norteadora foi: Quais são as evidências disponíveis sobre a utilização, segurança e resultados clínicos da elmoterapia como modalidade de suporte ventilatório não invasivo em pacientes adultos hospitalizados durante a pandemia da covid-19? Foram incluídos estudos primários realizados em ambiente hospitalar com adultos internados pela covid-19. Resultados: compuseram a amostra seis estudos realizados no Brasil entre 2020 e 2021. A elmoterapia esteve associada à melhora significativa dos parâmetros de oxigenação, redução da necessidade de intubação e menor mortalidade entre pacientes não intubados. Eventos adversos foram pouco relatados e, quando presentes, de baixa gravidade. Conclusão: destacou-se o potencial do capacete Elmo como uma tecnologia promissora no suporte ventilatório de pacientes com insuficiência respiratória.
