Objetivo: discutir sobre saúde e meio ambiente na graduação de enfermagem. Método: pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e documental, na qual a coleta de dados foi feita em programas e ementas de disciplinas de quatro cursos de universidades da Bahia, e com 21 estudantes. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio da análise de conteúdo, em 2014. Estudo aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com protocolo CAAE: 10817013.5.0000.5526. Resultados: os currículos apontam uma aproximação dos aspectos ambientais com a enfermagem, principalmente em disciplinas da área de saúde coletiva, mas a discussão foi considerada incipiente pelos estudantes e pouco aprofundada no currículo de enfermagem. Os enfermeiros possuem papel de destaque na consolidação da relação saúde e meio ambiente, pois produzem e gerenciam resíduos sólidos infectados, além de atuarem em territórios com problemas socioambientais. Conclusão: foi evidenciado um distanciamento na relação saúde/ambiente, indicando a necessidade de incluir a questão ambiental como tema transversal na formação do enfermeiro.
ABSTRACT
Objective: to discuss health and environment in undergraduate nursing education. Method: in this qualitative, descriptive, documentary study, data were collected in 2014 from the programs and syllabi of four courses at universities in Bahia State, and from 21 students, and were analyzed using content analysis. The study was approved by the research ethics committee (Protocol CAAE: 10817013.5.0000.5526). Results: the curricula indicate that nursing courses are approaching environmental issues, especially in collective health disciplines, but students considered the discussion incipient and lacking in depth in the nursing curriculum. Nurses play a leading role in establishing the relationship between health and environment, because they produce and manage infected solid waste, as well as acting in territories with socio-environmental problems. Conclusion: the study evidenced a distant relationship between health and environment, indicating the need to include environment as a transverse theme in nurses’ training.
RESUMEM
Objetivo: discutir sobre salud y medio ambiente en el pregrado de enfermería. Método: investigación cualitativa, descriptiva y documental, cuya recolección de datos se hizo en programas y notas de disciplinas de cuatro cursos de universidades de Bahía y junto a 21 estudiantes. El análisis de los datos se realizó a través del análisis de contenido, en 2014. Estudio aprobado por el Comité de Ética en Investigación con protocolo CAAE: 10817013.5.0000.5526. Resultados: los currículos muestran una aproximación de los aspectos ambientales con la enfermería, principalmente en disciplinas del área de salud colectiva, pero los estudiantes consideraron la discusión incipiente y poco profundizada en el currículo de enfermería. Los enfermeros desempeñan un papel destacado en la consolidación de la relación salud y medio ambiente, pues producen y gestionan residuos sólidos infectados, además de actuar en territorios con problemas socioambientales. Conclusión: se evidenció un distanciamiento en la relación salud/ambiente, indicando la necesidad de incluir la cuestión ambiental como tema transversal en la formación del enfermero.
