A importância da família no processo de prevenção da recaída no alcoolismo [Relevance of family role in the prevention of alcoholism relapse]

O objeto deste estudo é o apoio familiar como fator de prevenção da recaída no alcoolismo. O objetivo foi analisar a importância da família no processo preventivo dessa recaída. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, qualitativo, com uso de grupo focal. Foram sujeitos 31 clientes, entre 18 e 65 anos, atendidos pela Secretaria Municipal de Saúde/RJ e pelo Centro de Estudos, Pesquisa e Referência em Alcoologia e Adictologia, entre julho a setembro de 2009. Durante a realização dos grupos focais, os participantes discorreram a respeito da importância da família na prevenção da recaída no alcoolismo, salientando os episódios de violência e o exemplo dado aos filhos, devido ao uso abusivo do álcool. A partir dos resultados, torna-se importante a implementação de um programa de acompanhamento para os filhos dos alcoolistas, pois, no ambiente familiar desestabilizado em que se encontram, podem ficar emocionalmente abalados e prejudicados no seu desenvolvimento psíquico.
ABSTRACT
The object of this study is family support as a preventive factor for relapse. This study aimed at analyzing family’s relevance in prevention of alcoholism relapse. This is a descriptive, qualitative study with focus group. Subjects were thirty-one (31) clients aged 18 to 65, assisted at the Municipal Health/RJ and the Center for Studies, Research and Reference on Alcoholism and Addiction, from July to September, 2009. During the focus groups, participants spoke about family relevance in the prevention of alcoholism relapse, and highlighted episodes of violence and ensuing results on children’s frame of mind due to alcohol abuse. Results call for the implementation of a monitoring program for the children of alcoholics. Their imbalanced family environment can compromise their emotional frame of mind and undermine their psychic development.
RESUMEN
El objeto de este estudio es el apoyo familiar como un factor de prevención de recaída en el alcoholismo. El objetivo fue analizar la importancia de la familia en el proceso de prevención de esa recaída. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo, cualitativo mediante grupo focal. Fueron sujetos 31 clientes entre 18 y 65 años de edad, asistidos por la secretaía Municipal de Salud/RJ y por el Centro de Estudios, Investigación y Referencia sobre Alcoholismo y Adictologia, entre julio y septiembre de 2009. Durante los grupos focales, los participantes disertaban acerca de la importancia de la familia en la prevención de recaídas en el alcoholismo, destacando los episodios de violencia y el ejemplo dado a los niños, debido al abuso del alcohol. De los resultados, se cree que es importante implementar un programa de monitoreo para los hijos de los alcohólicos, pues, en eso ambiente familiar desestabilizado, pueden quedarse emocionalmente abalados y perjudicados en su desarrollo psíquico.
