Ações educativas do enfermeiro para a pessoa idosa: estratégia saúde da família [Action by nurses to educate older adults: the family health strategy]

A proposta deste texto reflexivo é enfatizar a importância da educação em saúde pautada nos princípios da educação libertadora e problematizadora de Paulo Freire, permeando as ações voltadas para a pessoa idosa e desenvolvidas por enfermeiros que atuam na estratégia saúde da família. Inicialmente, enfoca-se o processo de envelhecimento, seguido da educação libertadora e problematizadora de Freire e das ações desenvolvidas pelo enfermeiro na estratégia saúde da família, tendo como base os princípios da dialogicidade e respeito pelo outro. A equipe de enfermagem, inserida em uma disciplina voltada para o cuidado humano e o ensino do autocuidado, pode praticar a educação em saúde e ações que visem à manutenção da autonomia e independência das pessoas idosas. As práticas de educação em saúde podem tornar as pessoas idosas conscientes de decisões sobre sua saúde e capazes de realizar seu autocuidado.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this reflective text is emphasize the importance of health education guided by Paulo Freire’s principles of liberating and problematizing, as they inform action directed to the elderly by nurses working in the Family Health Strategy. It focuses first on the aging process, then Freire’s liberating and problematizing education, and thirdly the actions performed by nurses in the Family Health Strategy, based on the principles of dialogue and respect for others. The nursing team, trained in a discipline directed to humane care and to teaching self-care, can engage in health education and actions designed to keep older adults autonomous and independent. Health education can enable the elderly to make more conscious decisions about their health and to perform self-care.
RESUMEN
El propósito de este texto reflexivo es enfatizar la importancia de la educación en salud basada en los principios de la educación liberadora y problematizadora de Paulo Freire, permeando las acciones voltadas para los ancianos desarrolladas por enfermeros que trabajan en la estrategia salud de la familia. Inicialmente, se centra en el proceso de envejecimiento, seguido por la educación liberadora y problematizadora de Freire y de las acciones realizadas por el enfermero en la estrategia salud de la familia, basado en los principios del diálogo y del respeto por el otro. El equipo de enfermería, insertado en una disciplina centrada para el cuidado humano y la enseñanza del autocuidado, puede practicar la educación en salud y desarrollar acciones destinadas a mantener la autonomía e independencia de los ancianos. La práctica de la educación en salud puede hacer los ancianos conscientes de las decisiones sobre su salud y capacitados para realizar el autocuidado.
