Abstract

La Philosophy for Children (P4C) è un movimento educativo attuato in centinaia di scuole in tutto il mondo; tuttavia, in Grecia sono state condotte poche ricerche. Questo studio esplora le esperienze degli insegnanti di scuola primaria in merito a (a) la filosofia nell'istruzione primaria e le capacità filosofiche dei bambini, (b) i benefici proposti dalle discussioni filosofiche per i bambini, (c) le sfide che insegnanti e bambini devono affrontare durante la P4C e (d) le pratiche degli insegnanti nell'educazione alla filosofia. È stato implementato un disegno a metodo misto. Questo articolo presenta i risultati qualitativi ottenuti attraverso interviste semi-strutturate con (N=10) insegnanti di P4C. Per interpretare i dati è stata applicata un'analisi tematica. I risultati supportano in modo definitivo la filosofia nell'istruzione primaria. Gli insegnanti hanno approvato in modo omogeneo l'impatto positivo della P4C sulla simpatia dei bambini per le classi P4C. I temi chiave identificati includono il miglioramento delle capacità di pensiero di ordine superiore (HOTS), il benessere emotivo e le competenze democratiche dei bambini. Gli insegnanti hanno riferito di aver incontrato difficoltà nel gestire il loro nervosismo iniziale, nell'affrontare i confini con i bambini e le dinamiche della classe. Gli studenti si sono trovati ad affrontare sfide nella formulazione di domande, nel rimanere in tema e nell'espressione di sé. Gli insegnanti hanno espresso il contributo positivo della P4C al loro sviluppo professionale, alla promozione di competenze trasversali e al trasferimento di strategie didattiche.
