Abstract

The present study aims to investigate which Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) used in emergency remote teaching, highlighting the difficulties and advantages found. The research methodology, with a qualitative approach, consisted of a semi-structured interview conducted with Science and Biology teachers participating in the Pedagogical Residency project. The data collected were organized and analyzed according to the assumptions of content analysis. The results showed that teachers, although they have heard of DICT or ICT, still face difficulties when conceptualizing these terms. Regarding the most used DICT during remote teaching, Whatsapp, Facebook, Google Meet and Classroom were the most used. Regarding the difficulties regarding the use of DICT, the teachers mainly cite the lack of knowledge and specific training on the subject, and the lack of access of students to technology. Regarding the advantages that DICT has provided, teachers cite quick access to information, more dynamic and interactive classes, and the acceleration of the computerization process of schools. In view of the results of the research, it is possible to infer that, despite the difficulties in inserting DICT in the classroom, they can contribute to the teaching and learning process, thus it is important to continue research on what DICT has to offer to the educational context
