Seeking to problematize the impacts of the advances of neoliberal and conservative policies on teaching work, this article aims to understand the relationship between work and the neoliberalization process in education, focusing primarily on the impacts of this process on the devaluation of teachers' work, concomitant with the intensification of the bureaucratization of the tasks imposed on these teachers. Methodologically, the text is based on bibliographic research grounded in a historical-social perspective, from a Marxist approach, considering the dynamics and the economic-political-social conjuncture as a result of competing forces that have affected institutions, the subjects of these institutions, and institutional processes. This debate seeks to rethink the meanings of the increasing precarization of teaching work and the devaluation of this work in the neoliberal context. As a final point, we highlight a scenario of worsening precariousness in teaching work, established in a way that naturalizes overwork and normalizes a technical and managerial view of education. This is based on external incentives and conditions linked to International Organizations but maintains the State as an important ally that facilitates the institutionalization of neoliberal movements that have been guiding Brazilian education.
