Reflections on the foundations of Social Work based on Marx's social theory

Abstract

The historical-critical perspective of analysis to understand the social meaning of Social Service, since the 1980s, has been the object of study, reflections, replications, interpretations of the most diverse and reverberates in the theoretical, critical and academic accumulation that condenses contributions to the professional work in contemporary capitalism. However, there are few studies that appropriate Karl Marx's social thought in its theoretical, methodological and historical integrity to analyze the foundations of the profession in its movement, inflections and socio-historical dynamism. In view of this, the article aims to discuss and reflect on the analytical framework that underlies work based on the Critique of Political Economy based on Marx. In this way, it addresses considerations about the social individual, collective work, social relations and the conception of history and, subsequently, presents notes on the insertion of the profession in these processes and, finally, presents brief final considerations.
