Social policy and social services: debates and proposals at Social Work congresses in the 1980s in Spain

Abstract

The Social Work congresses that took place in the last decade reflect the changes in the profession in the recent history of Spain along the way towards the achievement of citizen rights. With the critical socio-historical methodological theoretical approach, sources of a bibliographic-documentary nature are analyzed, highlighting the contents of the Acts of the IV, V and VI State Congresses of Social Workers. In the three congresses - Valladolid (1980), Vizcaya (1984) and Oviedo (1988) - the debates were centered on the role of Social Work for the realization of a qualified intervention, and around social policy and social services , in a framework in which discourses on Social Welfare.
