Abstract

This article aims to analyze the determinants of violence against women and its manifestations in traditional communities, taking into account the specific characteristics of this phenomenon in the Northeast. Through theoretical and documentary research, it seeks to understand the relationship between violence against women and contemporary processes of capitalist accumulation in these regions. The results show that violence against women is an expression of social relations structured by patriarchy, racism, and capitalism. The research demonstrates that the encroachment of capital on traditional territories intensifies processes of expropriation, exploitation, and oppression and exacerbates the violence experienced by women, especially those who take on political leadership roles in the defense of territories, the commons, and collective ways of life.
