Abstract

This article aims to analyze the expressions of social issues during the COVID-19 pandemic on public education in Brazil. Based on the historical materialist dialectical method, the research has a quantitative-qualitative character, is classified as exploratory and, in its methodological path, uses a bibliographic review. Between the years 2020 and 2022, in event annals and in certain journals with publications in the area of social work, articles that dealt with the relationships between the pandemic and Brazilian public education were analyzed. The results showed 27 papers, which corresponded to the inclusion and exclusion criteria defined in the research. It is concluded that social asymmetries, which were not new, such as racism, unemployment, and starvation, resulted in socio-educational inequalities, which were exacerbated during the pandemic, as part of the cyclical crises of capital.
