Resumo

Ao propor uma análise da trajetória intelectual desta grande figura, que é Walter Benjamin, Michael Löwy mostra como o filósofo criticou diversas historicidades, notadamente a do tempo mecânico ou da ideia tranquilizadora de um progresso linear. Ele lhes opõe um tempo qualitativamente outro e raro, marcado pela articulação entre perspectiva messiânica e historicidade revolucionária, associando assim a tradição judaica e a convicção marxista.

Abstract

In proposing an analysis of the intellectual trajectory of this great figure, which is Walter Benjamin, Michael Löwy shows how the philosopher criticized different historic cities, notably that of mechanical time or the reassuring idea of linear progress. He opposes them to a qualitatively different and rare time, marked by the articulation between messianic perspective and revolutionary historicity, thus associating Jewish tradition and Marxist conviction.
