Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and it is not being evaluated for publication by other journal.

    Atention: the journal does not publish artibles writen exclusively by undergraduate students.

     

  • The files for submission are in Microsoft Word, Open Office or RTF format (limit of 2MB)

  • The text is in 1,5 space; size 12; italic and not underlined (except for URL addresses); pictures and chart are inserted in the text.

  • The text follows the Author Guidelines.

  • Author identification in the article was removed in order to ensure the secrecy criteria of the journal and according to the instructions in "Securing Double Blind Review".

  • The article contains a title, an abstract and key-words in Portuguese.

  • The article contains a title, an abstract and key-words in English.

  • The author authorizes the publication of his/her e-mail in the journal.

  • All authors must be registered in the ORCID and present the number in the corresponding field at the time of submission. More information at: https://orcid.org/content/about-orcid?locale_v3=en
  • In addition to the article file, a file containing a "Cover Sheet" with the necessary information and conditions for evaluating the manuscript must be attached. The template can be accessed at cover sheet.
  • Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence.
    Authors are required to declare the use of any Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools such as ChatGPT and others based on large language models (LLMs) used in developing any portion of their manuscript within the Methods section of their manuscript. Content created by artificial intelligence is discouraged, unless part of formal research design or methods and is not permitted without clear description of the content that was created and the name of the model or tool. In addition, these tools cannot fulfil the role of, nor be listed as, an author.

The text must be submitted electronically in the appropriate field of the Journal. To submit it, you must register as an author. After registering as an author, the system itself will show the user the steps to be followed for the correct submission of works. The system will automatically send a notification to the Editors regarding the submission of the text. The works will be forwarded to the reviewers anonymously for evaluation, in accordance with D&P's policy.

The submission, processing, and publication of works is free of charge and does not incur any costs for the authors.

In addition to the article file, a file containing a “Cover Sheet” with the necessary information and conditions for the evaluation of the manuscript must be attached. The template can be accessed at cover sheet.

Articles may be written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish and must follow the following guidelines:

1) They must contain between 15 and 25 pages, including text and bibliographic references. The possibility of publishing texts with more than 25 pages will be evaluated by the editors, but is explicitly discouraged.

2) Articles must contain a title, abstract, keywords, and keywords. They must also contain the title in English.

3) The title in Portuguese should be written in Calibri font, size 16, bold, justified alignment; while the title in English should be written in Calibri font, size 12, italics, left alignment.

4) Papers with a maximum of three authors will be accepted (in the case of research groups, the names of the participants must be included in a footnote). In the case of co-authorship, the effective participation of each author in the writing of the paper must be indicated in a note to the editor.

5) Pages should be A4, with 3 cm margins at the top and left, 3.5 cm margins at the bottom and right, justified alignment, Calibri font, size 11, and 1.5 line spacing.

6) Explanatory footnotes should be succinct, numbered throughout the text, in accordance with ABNT, with size 9.

7) The first line of each paragraph should be indented 0 cm from the left margin.

8) Files should be submitted with the title of the work (e.g., title.doc), so that the authors cannot be identified.

9) Files should be sent in Word format (.doc or .docx).

10) Authors must use ABNT standards for citations - AUTHOR-DATE model in the body of the text (NBR 10520) and for bibliographic references (NBR 6023). The accuracy and adequacy of references to works mentioned in the text are the responsibility of the authors.

11) All authors must be registered with ORCID and provide their number in the corresponding field at the time of submission. More information at: https://orcid.org/content/about-orcid?locale_v3=pt

12) The Direito e Práxis Journal does not publish articles written exclusively by undergraduate or master's students.

13) Tables and graphs must be sent in editable format and not as “images.”

Articles

Direito e Práxis welcomes the submission of papers written in English, Spanish and Portuguese. They must be original and unpublished. The section's goal is the diffusion of researches and experiments on human rights, both empirical and theoretical, formulated on critical and interdisciplinary bases. The contributions are concentrated in the areas of Theory and Philosophy of Law, Sociology and Human Rights.

 

Translations

This section receives and publishes translations of scientific papers. Once submitted, translations will be evaluated by the Editorial Board for verification of thematic relevance and analysis of the translation. Sending of the original text is desirable.

 

Review

The Law and Praxis journal welcomes the submission of reviews about books published in the last two years, at most. The reviews can be written in the languages accepted by the journal, namely Portuguese, English or Spanish. Once submitted, the reviews will be evaluated by the Journal`s Editorial Committee, which will analyze the pertinence of the publication considering (i) the relevance of the work, (ii) the quality and critical approach of the review, and finally, (iii) the relevance of the work in relation to the scope of the journal. Reviews must be 4-10 pages long. The same formal rules for papers are applicable. The review may have an inovative development, references and merely descriptive reviews will not be accepted. 

Ahead of Print

Ahead of print is the early and immediate publication of articles approved after the double blind review process and the Editorial Committee decision. This modality allows the rapid diffusion of the researches submitted to the publication and is carried out in definitive format of the approved text (it is not a preliminary version and, once published, it can be no longer altered).
