In this paper, we will present a preliminary survey of the existing initiatives to remember the pandemic, also selected testimonies from family members and their representatives that we found in newspapers and other media. All that in an attempt to understand some of the dilemmas and challenges in the endeavor to memorialize the pandemic. Finally, we intend to explore from a theoretical epistemological point of view the implications of using the concept of memory policy for situations different from those foreseen in the context of transitional justice literature. We aim, with that, to be able to elaborate some suggestions for advancing initiatives related to the covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, within the perspective that a memory policy is fundamental not only for those who were most directly affected by the disease but also to build a collective identity as a democratic society, in which all lives matter.
