Abstract

This article analyzes, from the perspective of historical-dialectical materialism, the High School reform (Law No. 13.415/2017) as a class project that adjusts Brazilian education to the needs of the current phase of capital accumulation. The objective is to unveil how the reform subordinates the formation of youth to market logic, to the detriment of citizenship and integral education. The methodology consists of documentary research, with a critical analysis of the aforementioned law and the Curricular Referential Document of Bahia for High School (DCRB-EM), based on Marxist theorists such as Gaudêncio Frigotto and Ricardo Antunes. The results indicate that the reform, under a discourse of flexibility and employability, promotes the emptying of critical knowledge and deepens labor precarization. The analysis of the Bahian case and the terminology of its curriculum, with a high frequency of terms like skill and competence, reveals the materialization of an instrumental education that prepares for instability and uberization. It is concluded that the New High School operates as an ideological tool for the reproduction of capitalist social relations, alienating the student and adapting them to a future of precarious work
