This research had as its central problem to discuss, in an interdisciplinary way, the possibilities of knowledge management in educational management, through the case study of one of the twelve units forming part of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Goiano, at the Ipameri Advanced Campus. Its main motivation came from the observation that during the selection processes some candidates were unaware of important information about the courses at the Advanced Campus Ipameri - IF Goiano, including the fact that it is a public institution. In view of this, there was an interest and curiosity to, based on a sociological investigation, understand the reasons for such situations using knowledge management (Nonaka and Takeuchi) as important theoretical elements for reflection on the problem, in addition to symbolic violence (Bourdie) that occurs with economically disadvantaged individuals, with liberating education as a counterpoint (Paulo Freire). Our general objective was to analyze how strategic educational institutional information is processed, at the Advanced Campus Ipameri - IF Goiano, in light of the concepts of education and cultural reproduction, within the scope of knowledge management. As specific objectives, we seek to deepen studies on education as an element of cultural transformation and reproduction, identifying in these theories elements that help to understand the research problem. Finally, we relate knowledge management in Public Administration to the scope of education. The research approach was qualitative, with an applied purpose, with the study methodology being exploratory-descriptive. The data collection technique used was interviews directed to managers, as well as documentary research. As for the data analysis technique, we apply content analysis, aiming to understand how to deal with communications beyond their meanings. In this way, we believe that knowledge management actions at the Ipameri Advanced Campus can lead to improved communication with the community, even if it has the influence of cultural reproduction, through the sharing of strategic data in a more interactive way with the community.
