In this article, we discuss the spread of youth protagonism as a founding element of the educational proposal for high school, as well as the objective of unveiling the intentionality of the discourse on youth protagonism present in the guiding document of the State Department of Education of Goiás and the relationship between this ability with the construction of the young person’s life project. It starts with the analysis of arguments presented in the aforementioned document to then establish a dialogue, through bibliographical research, with authors in the field of sociology and education who research the topic. The problem that arises is: do the mechanisms adopted by the guiding document for youth protagonism from the State Department of Education of Goiás corroborate to empower young high school students to be protagonists to the point of designing and executing their life project? Based on this understanding, elements of protagonist training were sought from the perspective of an integral training, to the detriment of an entrepreneurial utilitarian training, designed to meet the intentions of the capitalist market. Therefore, it reflects the interest in educational action that associates youth protagonism, life project and human essence as the very work of educational training that contributes to the improvement of public policies for youth with regard to education relations and work.
