Resumen
La siguiente es una investigación que pretende develar el actual proceso de gentrificación desarrollado en la región portuaria de Río de Janeiro desde la percepción de los sujetos políticos de la favela Morro da Providência, y entender como estos sujetos interpretan sus propias experiencias de resistencia comunitaria organizada frente a este proceso. Desde el anuncio de la victoria de Río de Janeiro como la ciudad anfitriona de la Copa del Mundo de 2014 y de las Olimpiadas de 2016, la ciudad se convierte en un laboratorio por excelencia de las prácticas capitalistas globalizadoras en el territorio. Bajo el lema “Ciudad Olímpica” son desarrollados grandes proyectos urbanos, y se denuncia un “legado oculto” a ser dejado por estos (mega) eventos. Se evidencian violaciones de derechos humanos, especialmente del derecho humano a la vivienda, y resistencias populares son organizadas en la mayoría de las comunidades afectadas, que luchan, finalmente, por el derecho a la ciudad. Y para David Harvey el derecho a la ciudad no es un regalo, sino que debe ser tomado por el movimiento político. La investigación optó por un enfoque etnográfico basado en el acercamiento a los sujetos locales, sus prácticas cotidianas y sus espacios de lucha.

Abstract
The following is an investigation that aims to reveal the ongoing gentrification developed in the port area of Rio de Janeiro from the perception of political subjects of the favela Morro da Providência, and to understand how these individuals interpret their own experiences of organized community resistance in this process. Since the announcement of the victory of Rio de Janeiro as the host city of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, the city became a laboratory for excellence of globalizing capitalist practices in the territory. Under the slogan "Olympic City", it developed large urban projects and a "hidden legacy" is reported to be left by these (mega) events. Violations of human rights, especially the human right to housing, and popular resistance are organized in most of the affected communities, struggling, finally, for the right to the city are evident. And to David Harvey the right to the city is not a gift, but must be taken by the political movement. The research chose an ethnographic approach based on local subjects, their everyday practices and spaces of struggle approach.
