This paper aims to tell the story of unjustified delays in judicial processes, not based on legal references (law, jurisprudence, and doctrine), but on literary narratives found over time, interconnected and systematized in a way that demonstrates these literary records’ historical value. It also analyzes them to prove that they consist of more or less fictional representations of a current legal issue, which, however, is not new. The analysis criteria and structure of this paper are based on the steps and procedures outlined in the analytical-interpretive path model proposed by Henriete Karam. This article is the result of exploratory and qualitative bibliographic research, focusing exclusively on European works, with no intention of exhaustively covering the sources. The treatment of the collected excerpts was not uniform, varying in the extent or depth of the steps or procedures of the analytical model used, depending on the nature and scope of the passages analyzed and, primarily, the delimited subject. The aim was to explore a legal issue (the unreasonable length of proceedings) that runs through the literary fragments analyzed. In the end, factors causing and resulting from the pending litigation or related events were compiled.
