This article aims to establish parallels between the different conceptions of the intercultural perspective adopted in Brazil and in Quebec. At first, it traces the origins of intercultural perspective in both context and then discuss the links between global and local tendencies in their configuration. The article also reflects on how the debate on inclusion has been more central in educational discourses and policies than in the intercultural debate of recent years. Afterwards, the comparative analysis of Brazil and Quebec intercultural policies allows us to enlighten the debate on the progress and contemporary challenges to the recognition of diversity in education.Downloads
