EQUALITY AS A PROBLEM

This article aims to complicate the relationship between school and equality, which, as it resonates through educational discourse, presents itself as a constitutive problem in these relations. Education, school, and difference are entangled in the struggle for equality, seen as a central commitment of education and a goal to be achieved by the school. Through a theoretical effort, the argument is made that this commitment reinforces the maintenance and reproduction of inequalities, becoming an unattainable promise while promoting a conception of difference reduced to diversity. In contrast, the text offers a new horizon of thought, in dialogue with philosophy, to consider difference without separability and the school as a space-time of life production. This perspective highlights how the issue of equality reinforces the colonial salvation fantasy and upholds a futuristic project that perpetuates this problem.
