This paper intends to make a brief comparative analysis between the positions of combative or omitted speeches, assumed by female characters in literary works in which they are protagonists. From a contrastive analysis between the protagonists of these narratives and based on the theories of the subjects and the otherness, the present text aims to investigate the similarities between female characters, who, since ancient times, have assumed subaltern figures in Western literature. Such figures originate a bipartition of feminine stereotypes, which permeate Western literature from different societies and different historical periods, representing, in these works, the woman who speaks, and the woman who keeps silent.
