Ensinar literaturas africanas para quê? Reflexões acerca do ensino das literaturas africanas de língua portuguesa no ensino básico

Abstract

Even with the BNCC proposal to “diversify throughout High School, [...] productions of contemporary youth cultures [...] including among them Portuguese-language African literature” (BRASIL, 2017, p. 524) and the enactment of Law 10.639/03, which makes the teaching of culture, history and literature of African and indigenous peoples mandatory in Brazilian education, the teaching of Portuguese-speaking African literatures in basic education is still almost null, often not even appearing in textbooks offered to students. Thus, the intention of this article is to propose a reflection on the importance of teaching these literatures and all the problems that involve it, bringing some ideas of educational approach from the work A Bicicleta que tinha Bigodes (2011), by the Angolan author Ondjaki.
