Abstract

This article aims to report the production process of a cartographic literacy textbook to be worked on by elementary school teachers, focusing on 4th and 5th grade students. The book is aligned with the proposals of the BNCC (Base Nacional Comum Curricular) where it seeks to develop the skills and abilities that are required for the school years mentioned. The textbook is divided into five chapters (orientation in geographic space, knowing the legend, proportion and scale, mapnotebook and starting the graphic representation), the book also has explanations, theoretical and practical activities, inclusion and QR Codes that take students to other platforms. In addition to documents such as the BNCC, PCNS, DCNS and PNLD. The methodology is anchored in qualitative research, using participant research as a method, questionnaires were applied via google forms, a focus group was carried out through webconferences with teachers who work with teaching geography in the initial and final grades of elementary school , we also had the graphic laboratory stage with the use of QGIS, which was used to create some maps in the textbook, and we also exported maps from IBGE and Google Earth. As a result, we produced a textbook with guidelines, explanations and activities that can be used by teachers and students in the 4th and 5th years of elementary school I.
