In this article we will focus on a kind of creative citizenship which is slowly emerging in contemporary societies. Consumerism, beauty, vanity, fashion and the body are cultural elements which will allow us to think about some concepts which have been “sedimented” for a long time on the field of communication. Young women from favelas call themselves “rats” and their life style made us to problematize issues concerning community sociability and cultural citizenship. This article proposes a field immersion into the Candelaria community at Mangueira Favela, Rio de Janeiro.
