Abstract

The present article seeks to discuss the meaning of the expression ‘Ceará moleque’, popularly used to refer to the people of Ceará, from its birth in the middle of the XIX century to the present days. We shall, therefore, discuss two of the main interpretations of the notion of identity: cultural studies, represented by Stuart Hall and the theory of the liquid modernity of Zygmunt Bauman.
