Abstract

The aim of this article is to analyze the dynamic phenomenon of the Welfare State that emerged at the beginning of the 20th century as a variant of the Liberal State model. The paper considers that, after the crisis of the late 20th century, the Welfare State was reinvigorated and recalibrated to continue being the model for the protection of social rights, but now based on priorities directed, especially in Latin American countries, towards the protection of children, the reduction of social and gender inequality, and the adaptation to the new reality of labor relations in the 21st century.
