Symbolic violence and gender: the case of domestic workers in Brazil

The relationship between symbolic violence and gender can be seen in different ways. Thus, it will have as its general objective to analyze domestic work in the light of the notions of sexual and racial division of labor and its relationship with symbolic violence and, as specific objectives: i) study the notion of symbolic violence; ii) analyze the sexual and racial division of labor; iii) understand domestic work in Brazil; iv) verify whether domestic work reproduces the sexual and racial division of labor, consisting of a kind of symbolic violence. With this, we were able to conclude that the sexual and racial division of labor is reproduced in domestic work and that this can be framed as an example of symbolic violence.
