Extensão universitária voltada à atenção da criança e do adolescente com Hipomineralização Molar-Incisivo (HMI)

A extensão universitária é um processo potencialmente transformador, que deve estar articulada de forma indissociável ao ensino e à pesquisa. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar a experiência de um projeto de extensão de uma Faculdade de Odontologia no estado do Rio de Janeiro, ao longo de 12 anos. O projeto foi marcado, desde seu início, pela troca de vivências de discentes de graduação e pós-graduação; pela definição das atividades do projeto como cenário de prática assistencial e de pesquisa do Programa de Pós-graduação stricto sensu na área de concentração em Odontopediatria. A partir disso, a produção acadêmica foi alinhada às atividades de ensino e extensão realizadas, promovendo uma formação profissional diferenciada aos discentes e a disseminação do conhecimento científico ao público acadêmico e leigo.

University extension focused on caring for children and adolescents with Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH)
University extension is a transformative process that must be linked to teaching and research. This article presents the experience of a 12-year extension project at a dental school in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since its inception, the project has been characterized by an exchange of experiences between undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as by defining the project’s activities as a setting for practical care and research within the stricto sensu postgraduate program in Pediatric Dentistry. From this perspective, academic production aligned with teaching and extension activities, promoting differentiated professional development for students and disseminating scientific knowledge to academic and general public.
