Abstract

This article investigates the reconfiguration of teaching intellectual authority in the era of Generative Artificial Intelligence through a critical analysis of emerging discourses in Latin America. Drawing on regional academic production on teaching competencies for AI (2022–2024) and educational policy documents from UNESCO and ECLAC, it argues that the imperative of "technical updating" operates as a disciplinary device that displaces the teacher from critical intellectual to algorithmic operator. The analysis reveals a structural tension between epistemic authority and algorithmic authority. It examines how the coloniality of knowledge is renewed through technological dependence and the epistemic silencing produced by the uncritical adoption of models trained on Global North data. It concludes that the platformized public sphere demands the reaffirmation of human authorship as political resistance, claiming a Critical Digital Humanity sovereign over its own thought.political resistance, claiming a Critical Digital Humanity capable of disputing sovereignty over thought itself.
