Abstract

As a segment of the discussions within the research project “The Path of Women: Cartographies of (Re)Existence”, currently underway as part of the doctoral studies in Contemporary Culture at the Federal University of Mato Grosso, this essay focuses on exploring the symbolic construction of patriarchy and its implications for contemporary gender inequalities. It draws upon cultural studies articulated by authors such as Geertz (1989), Boas (1932), Turner (1967), Bourdieu (1998), and Lévi-Strauss (1963; 1976), under the lens of Foucault’s critical approaches (Foucault, 1976; 1979).
