Abstract

The article analyzes a generation of authors who wrote about the history of the western region of São Paulo during the 1940s and 1950s, from a historiographical discussion on the intellectuals and their participation in society. From this theoretical perspective, it discusses the understanding of these writers as intellectuals and as historians, as well as their participation in society.
