Abstract
In Ponciá Vicêncio, by Conceição Evaristo, we can follow the leading character’s life and her movements from childhood to adult life. We know that she inherits the legacy of her patriarch, Vô Vicêncio. However, which inheritance would that be? In a simplistic reading, we might think that madness and oblivion are information of such ancestry, but as we accurately read, we perceive the social criticism to structural racism and necropolitics; and the celebration of an Afro-diasporic cosmology. In this article, we analyze the body-text issue as an inscription for memory, resistance and permanence, which found another genealogy, not white and not eurocentric.
